Residents of Tantra Hills and Mile 7, two neighbouring communities in the Ga West Municipality of Accra, are living in fear after gunmen robbed three different shops -- two of the attacks happening in broad daylight.
The attackers struck last week on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
Some residents who spoke with Joy News’ Maxwell Agbagba say the attackers first fired warning shots sporadically before breaking into shops and making away with thousands of Ghana cedis.
A shop owner who witnessed one of the attacks told Maxwell that "last week Thursday, I was about to deliver some goods and they came here around 10 to 11 in the morning...they came on motorbikes and they collect all the money they [shop owners] had on them...I was afraid that they will shoot me so I went back inside."
Mile 7 and Tantra HIlls, situated on the outskirts of the central business district, are among the hotspots for robbery attacks in nation's capital.
