CEO of the Ghana Minerals Commission, Addae Antwi Boasiako, has applauded the Management and staff of AngloGold Ashanti Iduapriem Gold Mine for the immense contribution they are making to improve their host communities during his recent visit and inspection of the operations of the Mine.
During the debriefing session with management, he highlighted the need to educate the communities on a minimal generation of waste with emphasis on recycling of waste and advocated for zero tolerance for waste generation.
Mr. Boasiako, commended the Mine for the numerous interventions during his visit to the Vegetable Farm Project in Teberebie, a host community.
He also emphasized on the need to deepen the publicity of these projects and interventions which include the donation of computers for ICT training in schools, construction of the clinic and school buildings, Malaria Control Programme and above all the healthy relationship with the host communities.
In acknowledging the CEO’s remarks, Jasper Musadaidzwa, Managing Director of Iduapriem Gold Mine said that the Mine will continue to work with the Ghana Minerals Commission and the other regulatory bodies in the mining industry to enhance its performance in all areas of the operations.
“By this we will be contributing meaningfully to the development of the economy and the country as a whole’. He stated.
