The Ranking Member on Parliament’s Defence and Interior Committee, Rev John Ntim Fordjour, has called for calm in Bawku following a fresh wave of violence in the conflict-prone area.
In a brief but heartfelt message posted on X (formerly Twitter) on Monday, 28 July, Rev Ntim Fordjour expressed concern over the continued unrest and extended condolences to affected families.
“We call for calm in Bawku. We pray for peace to prevail. Our sympathies to all bereaved families. Every life matters,” he posted.
His appeal comes amid reports of renewed attacks and rising tensions in the municipality, long troubled by chieftaincy-related disputes.
The Assin South MP joins a growing chorus of voices advocating restraint and dialogue to bring lasting peace to the area.
Local authorities, security agencies, and civil society groups have all echoed similar sentiments in recent days, particularly as the violence has led to casualties and the displacement of residents.
Rev Ntim Fordjour’s remarks underscore the urgency of prioritising human life and peaceful resolution, especially in communities repeatedly impacted by conflict.
