MODEC Production Services Ghana JV Limited (MPSG) on July 5th, 2024, donated furniture to the Anum Presby Senior High School at Anum Boso, Eastern Region.

The headmaster of the school, Rev. Richard Adjei, expressed gratitude for MPSG's generous contribution, and provided a brief history of the school, highlighting its growth from seven boys initially to the current student body of 3,000 and a staff of 169.

Mr. Adjei emphasised that the donated furniture will greatly enhance the students' learning experience, creating a more conducive environment for education. He described the donation as potentially transformative for the students' educational journey.

“On behalf of management, staff, and students, I would like to express my profound gratitude to MODEC for their generous donations. I would also like to give a special thanks to Madam Angela Frimpomaa Nkansah, the Acting Director of Human Resource Management of the GES head office, for playing a vital role by linking me or the school to MODEC upon several trips to her office to find solutions to staffing and the furniture challenge, among other challenges of the school. “

The headmaster also highlighted several challenges facing the school, including issues with water supply, the need for renovation to the boys' dormitories, and leakages in staff bungalows.

He appealed to the government and various stakeholders to lend their support.

The managing director of MODEC, Theophilus Ahwireng presented the donated furniture to the school, underscoring MODEC's commitment to education as a cornerstone of its social investment.

He emphasised that this commitment stems from their belief in the transformative power of education, which plays a crucial role in uplifting communities and shaping a brighter future for all.

Mr Ahwireng stated that MODEC recognizes the importance of well-equipped facilities in learning institutions to promote the well-being of students and staff, thereby supporting a comprehensive and conducive learning environment.

 He cited the school's continuous improvement in WASSCE results as a motivating factor behind their support.

“In responding to the need for support, MODEC and its partners are happy today to donate various school furniture 500 bunk beds, 300 mono classroom desks, dining hall tables, and benches, valued at over GH¢520,000 to the school."

"The goal of the donation is to assist in creating a positive learning environment for the students and to support their success. We hope that our donation will enhance the living and learning experience of the students and teachers and staff,” he said.

In a speech delivered on behalf of Angela Frimpomaa Nkansah, Acting Director of the Human Resource Management Division at GES, Accra, it was revealed that the connection between the headmaster and MODEC was facilitated during a visit to GES, where he met Madam Angela Nkansah.

She expressed gratitude to MODEC for their generous donation and encouraged students to take good care of the furniture.

“We are thrilled today to see these items—300 mono desks, 500 bunk beds, 15 dining hall benches, and 10 dining hall tables—donated to the school.

“We know these items would improve the performance of the school. We appeal to students to take good care of them”.

In an interview with Myjoyonline, the senior prefect of the school, Shadrach Amoah, said that students have had to sleep on the floor often due to the lack of beds.

He noted that this situation led to some students falling ill due to exposure to the cold floor.

“Today, MODEC has really done us a very kind gesture. They have donated to us bunk beds, and this has really helped us, and when you come to the classroom, students do not get a place to sit or stand while teachers are teaching.

“Looking at this situation, it has become very difficult for us as an institution, so we thank MODEC very much. MODEC has done it all. They provided us with desks, which have given us the comfort to sit. It will also help in teaching and learning. We thank MODEC for everything.”
