Accident figures released by the National Road Safety Commission in the Ashanti Region for the second quarter of this year reveals active male adults are mostly victims. The number of deaths however dropped marginally from 120 in the first quarter to 114. Regional Coordinator, Kwaku Oware Boateng, told Nhyira News the trend is still worrying. Out of the 114 people who died, 64, representing 56 per cent, were males above 18 years. Pedestrian knockdowns also increased from 94 to 125 respectively over the same period. Mr. Oware-Boateng wants drivers and other stakeholders to change their attitude towards road safety. He concedes the fight to reduce motor accidents is far from over.
