Dog and wild cat trainer, and CEO of Tiwonisam Group of Companies, Samuel Tiwonitaaba Kuteba, has shared the wonderous story of how one of his dogs saved his life when he fell sick.
The dog named Nala, now deceased, was one of his favourite trained dogs and became close to almost all his friends and family members.
He revealed this in an interview on Joy Prime’s morning show on Thursday, ahead of his upcoming dog lecture.
According to him, "Nala lived with me for four years, and she had a great bond with me, my family, and any other person who came into contact with her. Nala actually healed me when I was down with a spine problem."
He said the dog was bought for two purposes: To be trained as one of the best dogs and to reproduce puppies to be sold for profit. Unfortunately, Nala could not procreate but was able to strengthen him when he became fragile.
Due to the love and happiness Nala created while she was alive, Mr. Tiwonitaaba is organising a dog lecture in honour of her on Saturday, July 15, 2023, at the GH Media School premises in Achimota. In addition, a donation will be made to a children’s home because of Nala’s love for kids.
The lecture, dubbed "Nala’s Memorial Lecture," seeks to celebrate the remarkable bond between humans and animals as well as teach dog owners how to deal with their pets.
Dr. Koney Boye Mensah, a veterinary Surgeon and one of the speakers slated for the lecture, explained the need for people to be responsible pet owners and prioritise veterinary care.
"Pets are very loyal animals. The more you give them, the more you also receive from them. So, it is always very good to look after them properly. It’s not just throwing leftovers at them," he said.
The veterinary surgeon has urged pet owners and trainers to avoid feeding their dogs spices as it affects their health, thereby reducing their lifespan.
Members of the public are encouraged to attend the memorial lecture to learn about dogs and hear more of the story of how Mr. Tiwonitaaba was healed by Nala.
