Deputy Chief of Staff Nana Oye Bampoe Addo has congratulated Asanteman Austria and their newly enstooled Ohemaa, emphasising the importance of leadership, unity, and service within Ghanaian tradition.
At a special event held at the Vienna International Centre in Vienna, Austria, on 14th June, 2025, Nana Oye Bampoe Addo, in the margins of the First Resumed Sixteenth Session of the United Nations Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC) Implementation Review Group (IRG) and the Open-Ended Intergovernmental Working Group on the Prevention of Corruption, addressed the Ghanaian community and distinguished guests at a celebration which marked the enstoolment of the Vienna Hemaa (Gyaase Hemaa) and Adonten Hemaa of Austria.
Ms Bampoe Addo called on the Ghanaian diaspora to maintain solidarity, support each other, and contribute to development projects.
She praised the diaspora’s active engagement in Austria and their contributions to both Ghanaian and Austrian societies, urging youth to embrace their heritage and look to the future with ambition and service.
She commended the Asanteman Austria Executive Council and Ghana’s Ambassador to Austria, H.E. Matilda Alomatu Osei-Agyeman, for their dedication to the community.
Ms Bampoe Addo encouraged all present to renew their commitment to Ghanaian values: respect for tradition, unity in diversity, and relentless pursuit of excellence.
H.E. Matilda Alomatu Osei-Agyeman underscored that the constitution of Ghana ensures that every person is entitled to enjoy, practice, profess, maintain, and promote any culture, language, tradition, or religion, subject to the provisions of the constitution.
This means that both chieftaincy and broader cultural practices are constitutionally protected.
She added that chieftaincy is recognised as the custodian of customary values and norms, and thus, the constitution outlines its establishment, roles and jurisdictions.
Accordingly, the Embassy of Ghana was privileged to welcome the presence of the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidency at the event.
