President of the Ghana National Diabetes Association, Mrs. Elizabeth Esi Denyoh, has been elected the West African chairperson of the International Federation of Diabetes (IDF) at the just ended World Diabetes Congress in Vancouver-Canada.
By the election, she becomes a member of the Africa board of the Federation. She would also be responsible for the collection of relevant data and reporting from the West African office to IDF Africa regional office and to the global office.
The International Diabetes Federation (IDF) is an umbrella organization of over 230 national diabetes associations in 170 countries and territories. It represents the interests of the growing number of people with diabetes and those at risk. The IDF’s mission is to promote diabetes care, prevention and cure worldwide towards the vision of living in a world without diabetes.
The National Diabetes Association in Ghana, formerly known as the Ghana Diabetes Association is a member of the IDF. The association which was established in 1982 currently has over 14,000 members.
