For the first time in the history of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), its July 7 to 9 presidential primary will be held in the open air at the Sunyani Coronation Park because it wants to ensure transparency, peace and total security.
It is also to ensure that the over 3,000 delegates from within and the diaspora, about 500 local and foreign observers, invited guests and numerous journalists have enough space to operate in.
Richard Quashigah, national propaganda secretary of the party, disclosed this to The Ghanaians Times on phone.
He disclosed that preparations were far advanced and that the time-table would be strictly adhered to, explaining that accommodation, feeding and security arrangements for delegates had also been taken care of.
Mr Quashigah said though delegates would use the terraces and canopies, space would be provided in the inner perimeter for dignitaries.
He added that accreditation would soon be issued to journalists, observers and other personalities who would attend the three-day conference.
President John Evans Atta Mills and former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings are contesting in the landmark primary.
It is the first time that an incumbent president of the NDC is being contested in the party's primary.
