The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has demanded the release of its Ledzekuku constituency executives including the parliamentary candidate for the area, Bernard Ayiku.
The party said its members where unlawfully detained on Sunday, and must be released immediately.
According to the party, four armed military men invaded the private office of the parliamentary candidate on the suspicion that he was registering voters at his office.
But at a media briefing on Monday, the Deputy Greater Accra regional youth organizer, Amos Blessings Amorse said parliamentary candidate was in a meeting with traditional priest at the time of the invasion.
And that did not deter the armed men from arresting the parliamentary candidate, constituency chairman and constituency organizer despite the protest by some members of the party last night.
“We challenge them to make their details know to the EC for them to be punished if they think our executives are guilty of what they say,” he stressed.
Mr Amorse further accused the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) abusing power in order to win the 2020 general elections.
He then called on security agencies to resist any attempt by the Akufo-Addo government to use their uniform to carry out any siege that could affect the democratic system of the country.
