A group of NDC youth calling itself Concerned Advocates for Peace in Ablekuma Central Constituency (CAPACC) is demanding an unreserved apology from some NDC youth known as the Skirt and Blouse Association in the Ablekuma Central Constituency. The group says the latter per a publication on a supposed finding from a research it conducted on the performance of Members of Parliament labeled the Member of Parliament for the area, Hon. Theophilus Tetteh Chaie as non-performing and a “political nonentity”. In a statement signed by the secretary of CAPACC, Ibrahim Anyass, the group said it found the claims against Hon. Tetteh Chaie as unwarranted and which could only be informed by mischief and people who want to malign and bring into disrepute the person of the MP and therefore demanded an explanation to that. According to them the MP for the area has chalked a lot of successes in the two years and eight months he has been in office. They say he has supported education, improved social interaction, helped in the reduction of crime in the area as well as the provision of social amenities to develop the constituency. “Hon. Tetteh Chaie is the only candidate who has managed to wrest power from the NPP in an election in the constituency since the commencement of the fourth republic in Ghana”, the group observed. “Judging from the immense contributions and development brought to the area by Hon. Tetteh Chaie the party’s delegates should be convinced that he is competent and should retain him in the upcoming primaries ahead of the 2012 elections”, they added. The group further noted that those perpetuating this vicious agenda do not have the party at heart. They said the Skirt and Blouse group is only being used by some people in a bid to unseat the incumbent ahead of the 2012 general elections which they find rather unfortunate and a threat to the NDC’s plans to retain power after 2012. They threatened to mention names of persons believed to be behind this “malicious agenda” if the Skirt and Blouse group fails to apologize to the incumbent MP. They also called on regional and national executives of the NDC to come to the aid of Hon. Tetteh Chaie to avert what they call a potential loss of the constituency seat in the 2012 elections.
