Nene Drolor Bosso Adamtey I has been elected as the Greater Accra Region’s representative on the Council of State after securing an overwhelming victory in the regional election held on Tuesday, February 11.
The election, supervised by the Electoral Commission (EC), saw Nene Drolor Bosso Adamtey I clinch the seat with 40 votes, while his contenders recorded zero votes.
Announcing the results, the Greater Accra Regional EC Director, Mrs. Gladys Pinkrah declared: "By the power vested in me by the Electoral Commission, I declare Nene Drolor Bosso Adamtey I as the Greater Accra Representative of the Council of State."

Tense Moments Before Victory
The election was briefly disrupted when one of the aspirants, Musah Ziyad, was blocked by police while attempting to enter the polling room with some individuals.
The situation escalated into chaos, prompting Greater Accra Regional Minister Linda Ocloo to flee through an exit door. However, calm was soon restored, allowing the voting process to proceed smoothly.
Initially, 13 candidates were in the race to represent the region on the Council of State. However, three candidates—Obed Nyarko, Albert Borketey Naawu, and Musah Ziyad—later withdrew, reducing the number of contenders to 10.
A total of 58 delegates were expected to cast their votes.
The Council of State is a constitutional advisory body established under Article 89 of the 1992 Constitution of Ghana.
It consists of both elected regional representatives and appointed members who provide counsel to the President on governance matters. Each region elects one representative, while others are selected based on expertise and experience.
