A new online payment service- iWallet- which will enhance electronic transactions and reduce the hassle associated with shopping, has been launched in Accra. Put together by Dream Oval Ltd., a young group of Ghanaian entrepreneurs, the service is to revolutionarise e-commerce in Ghana. Derry Dean Dadzie, Chief Executive Officer of Dream Oval told stakeholders and a section of the media on Wednesday, iWallet has come to expand the frontiers of local businesses whilst mitigating the inconvenience consumers have to go through in purchasing one product or another. “This will provide great benefits for local businesses as they can now expand their market base across the country, keep shops open 24/7 and automate sales processes. “… People in Ghana today are at times subjected to going through hours of traffic to purchase their goods and make household payments. Dadzie told Myjoyonline.com at the sidelines of the product launch that the dream to innovate and produce iwallet became even more entrenched when Ghana and Nigeria were both blacklisted at one time from engaging in internet purchase of products. “Ghana and Nigeria have this bad reputation for internet [business] transaction so we thought we could do something that works within our country so that we can tell the story to other parts of the world,” he stated. Kofi Asamoah of the Engineering department assured of the security guarantees in using iWallet. He said the product has gone through rigorous authentication and authorization formalities with a view to preventing fraudulent activities and hacking of the systems.
