Hundreds of sports enthusiasts in Kumasi trooped to the Heroes Park at the Baba Yara Stadium to catch a glimpse of Nhyira FM’s sensational sports team as it delivered a special dose of trademark Saturday morning Power Sports programme.
It was the climax of the Nhyira FM ‘Show your Jersey’ Health Walk which lived up to the billing, with a massive turn-out, as one of the biggest outdoor events in the Garden City in recent times.
The new Power Sports team which joined the station barely two months ago was out for the first time to interact with listeners and make them part of the programme they so much cherish.
Over 1,000 participants made up of individuals and representatives of corporate institutions, keep-fit and other social groups, young and old, male and female showcased replica jerseys of their respective local and foreign clubs in a two-hour walk.
Walkers trekked from Amakom through Asokwa, Nhyiaeso, the central business of district of Adum, Asem and back to the Baba Yara Stadium for an aerobic session.
Participants also have the opportunity of a free health screening package at the event grounds.
It was an exciting moment for listeners of Nhyira FM as the roll call was made of the Power Sports team spearheaded by host, Bright Kankam Boadu, known simply as Bright.
Other on-air team members are Collins Asante (Acostic), Richard and Sammy Acheampong as well as Osei Oware (Senior), with Augustine and Gideon Boateng as well as Jacob Atsu Sebe providing production support for the three-hour programme from 9 a.m. and 12 p.m.
The fans had their share of the discussion which gave them the chance to win Nhyira Power Sports-labelled T-shirts and other prizes in a mini quiz which interspersed presentation.
The health walk and outdoor sport programmes are sponsored by Unique Naturalist Care Centre GT Bank, Medi Moses Prostate Foundation and Herbal Centre, Overmass Multi Satellite Services and Ideal College.
The rest are Otuasekan Rural Bank, Tetewobika Herbal Centre, Krispat Era Centre, Supernet Technologies, Maxmart, Blue Skies, Crystal Herbal Centre, Ambitious Bookshop, 2nd Image International Academy, Auntie Mary Bread and Oscamag Butik.
