The man who volunteered and paid the GH¢7,000 fine imposed on two New Patriotic Party men, Paul Collins Appiah Ofori is lamenting that neither the party nor the contemnors showed appreciation for his benevolent gesture.
The Former NPP Parliamentarian for Asikuma-Odobeng-Brakwa Constituency of the Central Region, said no one has called to thank him for paying the money shortly after the ruling was pronounced on the two party officers Wednesday.
NPP's General Secretary Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie was fined GH¢5,000 and ordered to sign a bond to be of good behaviour for six months or in default serve a prison term of six months after he was found guilty of intentional criminal contempt.
His party's Communications team member, Hopeson Adorye was also fined GH¢2,000 and ordered to sign a bond to be of good behaviour for three months or in default serve a prison term of not less than three months for the same offence.
Speaking to Joy News' Jefferson Sackey a day after he willingly paid the fine on behalf of the convicts, P.C Appiah Ofori said: "Nobody, nobody from the party has called" to express appreciation.
"I am not supposed to have word with them, they have to have word with me by calling me to thank me but they have not done so either," the anti-corruption crusader stated.
He however stated that, his main objective for paying the fine was to prevent the convicts from being "thrown into prison" and not to demand appreciation in return.
"Whether they have done so [expressed gratitude] or not, this is not what I was looking for. My main mission for doing that was to ensure that the two of them were not thrown into prison and this by the grace of God I have achieved it," he said.
The outspoken former MP, chided the party executives for failing to publicly condemn the utterances which occasioned the bringing of contempt charges against the two.
