Police in the Northern Region are on a manhunt for five members of an anti-drug abuse task force in connection with the alleged murder of Hudu Abdul Rashid.
According to a resident, Mr Hudu was pronounced dead on arrival at Yendi Hospital.
The source stated that the deceased was hit in the neck area and subsequently fell to the ground, losing consciousness.
He was rushed to the hospital where he was declared dead.
Information gathered by Joy News indicates that the task force members had initially gone to Mr Hudu's wife's store, accusing her of dealing in tramadol.
After a search yielded nothing, the task force returned on July 30, 2024, to confront her again.
The task force allegedly seized her wares and took her money. In response, the woman called her husband, to intervene.
This led to a confrontation between him and the task force, which resulted in his death.
Mr Hudu was laid to rest on Wednesday in Yendi in line with Islamic customs.
Joy News sources reveal that a team from the Northern Regional Police Headquarters will join their counterparts in Yendi to assist with the investigation.
Various task forces have been formed in the Northern Region to combat the increasing drug use.
However, Joy News has learned that the police have not sanctioned any of these task forces.
