Freelance investigative journalist, Manasseh Azure Awuni says no good will come out of Martin Amidu’s investigation on his 'Sale of contracts' expose.
He explained that this is because the Office is one state institution that has not shown any interest in pursuing the matter.
The 2012 GJA Journalist of the year said the Office of the Special Prosecutor is yet to contact him about his documentary to follow up on the corruption case.
The documentary, ‘Contracts for Sale’ which came out last year, exposed the CEO of the Public Procurement Authority, A.B. Adjei for selling government contracts he has won through his company.
Mr Awuni explained to Kojo Yankson, host of Joy FM's Super Morning Show, Wednesday that when an investigative report has been done, the Office usually would invite the journalist for more information but nothing happened thereafter.
“When you do an investigation report and any state institution is asked to go and do a follow-up, they would invite you to ask more questions of other pieces of info that you were not able to put in the documentary or story because in investigations you often know more than you put out for several reasons,” he said.
According to the freelancer, he said that only the Commission of Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) has reached out to him regarding the matter.
“It was rather CHRAJ that reached out to me, I met them and gave them raw footage and more recordings than what was contained in the documentary," he said.
He added that the Auditor-General had also reached out to him and tasked the Auditor-General’s team to work on the case.
Manasseh Awuni claimed that it seems as though the Office of the Special Prosecutor is not interested in pursuing this case, but is pursuing other cases like the Airbus scandal.
