Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, flag bearer of New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the 2008 Election, says the party is moving Ghana forward in terms of development to secure a better future for the nation.
He, therefore, urged the electorate to vote him into power in December for a “prosperous Ghana”.
Nana Akufo-Addo, who was addressing party supporters and sympathizers when he visited the Twifo-Hemang-Lower-Denkyira constituency, as part of his one week tour of the Central Region, re-affirmed that he would make education a key factor in the country’s development.
The NPP flag-bearer said that he would ensure more development and continue with the good works of President John Agyekum Kufuor adding that the President did not renege on his promises to the people of the area.
Nana Akufo-Addo, was accompanied on the tour by leading members of the party, including, Mr Allan Kyerematen, Mr Yaw Osafo-Maafo and Mr Boakye Agyarko.
They paid courtesy calls on Odeefuo Boa Amponsem IV, Denkyirahene, Nana Appiah Nuamah II, Paramount chief of Twifo Traditional Area, Oseadeoyo Kwasi Kenin II, Morkwaahene, and Nana Ofo Kwadwo II, chief of Twifo Krobo.
Nana Akufo-Addo solicited the support of the traditional rulers and promised to better the lot of their people if given the mandate to rule the country.
Supporters clad in party paraphernalia lined up along the streets and cheered Nana Akufo-Addo and the NPP leading members, danced the “kangaroo” dance and chanted the party slogan, “NPP is moving forward”.
Nana Addo also addressed separate rallies at Twifo Heman, Praso, Wawase, Krobo and Jukwa and introduced NPP parliamentary aspirants in the area to the people, including Mr Abraham Dwuma Odoom for the Twifo-Atti-Morkwaa constituency and Reverend Benjamin Donkor for Heman Lower Denkyira constituency, and called on the electorate to vote massively for them.
At Jukwa, Nana Akufo-Addo promised that if elected as President, he would ensure the rehabilitation of the main road leading to the town.
He donated a cheque for GH¢5,000 as part payment of GH¢10,000.00 needed for the provision of potable water for the town and promised to pay the rest of the amount soon.
Nana Akufo-Addo also asked the district assembly to provide five bundles of roofing sheets for a clinic project in the town while a new market was to be built soon.
Mr Osafo-Maafo said NPP would win the polls massively because of its good works but urged party supporters to unite and not to allow anybody to infiltrate their camp.
Mr Kyerematen, said the NPP has a solid team that could move the developmental agenda of the country forward.
He said that politics was about development and urged the electorate to vote for Nana Akufo-Addo because he has “political experience”, vision and an international exposure to make Ghana a better place.
The Central Regional Minister, Nana Ato Arthur asked the people to vote for the NPP because the party had an agenda to develop the region.
