The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has postponed its Akuapem South parliamentary primary initially scheduled for January 27.
The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Frank Aidoo, has petitioned the party following the withdrawal of Akuapem South MP, Osei Bonsu Amoah from the race two days ago.
The NPP had earlier prohibited MMDCEs from contesting in constituencies with sitting MPs unless the MP opts not to run.
As a result of O.B. Amoah's withdrawal, the path is now open for the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) to enter the race who has consequently petitioned to be included in the race.

The postponement comes in response to petitions and recommendations from both the constituency and regional executive committees, according to a release signed by the party’s General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong.
The decision aims to facilitate comprehensive consultations and address concerns, it added.
