Two supporters of the New Patriotic Party in the Eastern Region have been arrested by the police for allegedly circulating posters of Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings.
The District Chief Executive of the Kwahu East who is also the chairman of the District Security Council caused the arrest of the two men, Friday.
According to him, stocks of posters were found at the New Patriotic Party constituency office in Abetifi.
Posters designed with pictures of the former first lady, Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings have been littered across the length and breadth of the country.
The campaign posters, with the inscription, Konadu for President 2012 has created a storm of controversy and has been a source of alleged power play between members of the ruling National Democratic Congress.
But the Regional chairman of the NPP has denied charges his party activists in the region are involved in the controversy.
Dr Samuel Annor said there is no way NPP members will be behind Nana Konadu’s campaign.
According to him, the allegation that the posters were found in their constituency office is not sustainable.
“It is unthinkable. Anybody could put things in our party office. Our party office is open. It is not restricted only to NPP members who come in and out because they encourage anybody to come in.
“They are busy recruiting all the time. So anybody walks into the office and walks out,” he explained.
