The National Road Safety Authority (NRSA) has advised drivers to comply with road safety measures to prevent accidents in the festive season.
According to the Public Relations Officer of the NRSA, Pearl Adusu Sateckla, during this season, many people use the roads which leads to heavy traffic situations and sometimes makes vehicles prone to crashes if precautionary measures are overlooked.
Speaking at a Press Conference, she said “As we are entering the festive season, a lot of crashes will happen because of heightened mobility. Please let's be cautious. Pedestrians should wear the right attire and walk in the right direction to avoid crashes during the festive season so that by the end of the year, we'll all stay alive."
President of the Road Crash Victims Foundation, Rev Cyril Crabbe, also explained that drivers had a major role in ensuring that accidents were reduced.
He stressed that drivers were in charge of their safety and that of the pedestrians as well, hence the need to drive well.
"I think that all drivers should first and foremost have in mind that they deserve to come home to their families. By that, they're going to be mindful of the way they drive, they won't drive recklessly. Every driver will drive with caution and safety at the back of their minds, they'll look out for everybody and come home safe."
