Former Black Stars striker Nii Odartey Lamptey is cautioning Black Stars coach Goran Stevanovic to be sure of the fitness of striker Asamoah Gyan before including him in the yet to be named final squad for the African cup of nations.According to him, Stevanovic should be bold and drop Asamoah Gyan due to his injury.“If is going to take him about three weeks to recover then I think the coach should be bold and drop him”. He told Joy Sports.“This is a competition that you play almost every two days and before you can make an impact you have to be fully fit, so it is up to the coach to decide but I think if he does not recover on time then it will be appropriate to drop him”.It is reported the football association is in talks with medical experts in Serbia to try and speed up Asamoah Gyan’s recovery rate from a hamstring injury that should keep the striker out of action for at least between three and four weeks.Medical experts have indicated Gyan cannot be at his 100 percent best for the Black Stars no matter the time he recovers with just 20 days to the team’s opening Cup of Nations game against Botswana in the Gabonese town of Fransville.
