Osabarima Kwesi Atta II, Omanhene of Oguaa Traditional Area has called on residents within the area to endeavour to keep it clean to enhance its status as a major tourist destination.
He said a tree planting exercise would be undertaken to beautify the township and provide shade for residents and visitors.
Osabarima Atta made the call when inaugurating a 15-member sanitation committee in Cape Coast.
The committee jointly set up by the traditional council and Cape Coast Municipal Assembly is to supervise monthly clean up exercises.
The membership includes officials from the assembly, forestry services division, parks and gardens and Zoom Lion Company.
Osabarima Atta announced that about 550 tree seedlings would be planted in the township and so far 50 seedlings had been received and would be planted on Saturday, September 22 as part of a clean up exercise.
Meanwhile, some companies, Kayson and Gaisie, Maame Sekune and C.S. Trading Companies all in Tema and Aquafil Mineral Water in Accra have donated sanitation equipment made up of 32 shovels, 51 hand gloves, 30 brooms, 10 Wellington boots and 15 nose masks towards clean up exercises in the township.
