The Speaker of Parliament has directed the Deputy Local Government Minister-designate, John Oti Bless to apologise to Chief Justice Georgina Wood for some derogatory comments he made about her.
Edward Doe Adjaho disclosed on Friday that the apology has become necessary because he and the leadership of the house have taken steps to amicably resolve the possible case of contempt against the MP and Chief Justice.
President John Mahama nominated Oti Bless Emmanuel Bombande and Joseph Tetteh Angmor as Deputy Local Government Minister, Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister, and Deputy Eastern Regional Minister respectively.
After vetting them, Parliament approved two other nominees, Emmanuel Bombande and Joseph Tetteh Angmor.
The approval of John Oti Bless has been pending in Parliament after it emerged that he was involved in some commentary deemed to have brought some judges of the Supreme Court into disrepute.
A Montie FM presenter and two panelists have been sentenced to four months in prison and fined 10,000 cedis each for their involvement in the act.
The Minority in Parliament has vowed to shoot down the approval of the Mr. Oti Bless who is the Member of Parliament for Nkwanta North constituency.
“The last thing that I would like to do as the head of the house is to have this house and the head of another arm of government having problems,” Edward Doe Ajaho said at the last day of the second meeting of Parliament.
The house will resume in October as they go on recess after the sitting on Friday, August 5.
