Political Assistant to Alan Kyerematen, Nana Yaw Sarpong, has called for better political orientation for leaders in Ghana, including those in the legislature, the executive, and the judiciary.
He believes that Ghanaian leaders need proper guidance on how to manage and communicate sensitive information effectively and responsibly.
Speaking on News Review on JoyPrime, Mr. Sarpong emphasised that this orientation should focus on teaching leaders which information is appropriate to disclose, when it should be shared, and the most suitable platforms to use for communication. He stressed that effective communication is key to maintaining transparency and preserving public trust.
Mr. Sarpong’s comments come amid the ongoing controversy surrounding Rev. John Ntim Fordjour’s recent media appearances following his allegations that two international aircraft that recently came to Ghana could have been carrying contraband goods or were engaged in an illegality. Mr. Sarpong expressed concern over the politicisation of the issue.
“Everything shouldn’t be reduced to politics; we shouldn’t politicise every issue,” Mr. Sarpong said.
He further pointed out that some individuals seem more focused on gaining political points than addressing the real issue, which he believes undermines the country’s interests.
Mr. Sarpong also responded to Sammy Gyamfi’s calls for Rev. Ntim to be arrested. He questioned why technical experts had not been involved in the matter, asking, “Where are the technical experts? Can’t the Minister for Transport instruct the relevant department in aviation to provide us with the necessary details?”
He urged that issues like this should be approached with professionalism rather than political bias.
“We need to protect the nation’s interests and ensure that these matters are handled with the seriousness they deserve,” Mr. Sarpong stressed.
