FIFA will make an extra 42,308 tickets available to the public for the FIFA Confederations Cup which were previously reserved by stakeholder groups and not taken up as well as unpaid ticket orders. Among the inventory are 3,166 coveted tickets for the opening match in Brasilia on 15 June 2013, 1,601 for match number 9 (Italy-Brazil) as well as 4,843 for the final at the Maracanã in Rio de Janeiro on 30 June. As of 09.00 Brazilian time (13.00 CET) tomorrow (28 February), fans will be able to purchase these and extra tickets for all 16 matches via www.FIFA.com/ticketing. As it currently stands (Wednesday, 27 February, time of release), there are 273,060 remaining tickets in the public sale for fans who do not want to miss the chance to see the eight champions live at one of the six FIFA World Cup arenas. Overall, 475,389 tickets have been sold to date. “For FIFA, it is most important to have full stadiums at the FIFA Confederations Cup. We want to ensure that all football fans get a chance to enjoy the experience to watch some of the best football teams in the world and to be able to say ‘I was there’. Therefore, we have given our contractual partners a tight deadline to return any tickets they do not want to buy so that we can make them available to the public. Moreover, all parties are asked to ensure that any unwanted tickets will be returned to us at least 72 hours before the respective match,” explained Thierry Weil, FIFA Marketing Director and in charge of ticket sales at FIFA, before adding: “We are extremely pleased with the take-up of tickets so far and are convinced that Brazilians will give all eight teams with an incredible reception with full stands in June.” FIFA would also like to encourage any disabled people who are interested in attending one of the 16 FIFA Confederations Cup matches to submit their ticket orders by 15 April 2013 as afterwards any unsold inventory reserved for the disabled will be released for public sale as per disabled people .
