The owner of the ammunitions impounded on a commercial vehicle at the Binduri barrier in the Upper East Region has been arrested by the Ashanti Regional Crime Office of the Ghana Police.The man, 45-year-old Musa Lasisi, a Nigerian told police after his arrest that the ammunitions were not bound for Bawku, but Benin for sale.He told police that he is an ammunitions salesman and has been in the business for a while. He also claimed he bought the ammunitions from a licensed ammunitions dealer in Kumasi.Speaking to Joy News’ Sammy Darko, ACP Bright Oduro, Regional Crime Officer, confirmed that Lasisi bought the ammunitions from a licensed dealer. But said Police are still investigating why such a huge quantity was sold to him by the dealer. He also said police may proffer charges against the dealer if necessary.It will recalled that Police at the Binduri barrier impounded nine cartons of ammunition suspected to be bound for Bawku in a commercial Benz bus. Passengers on the bus denied knowledge of the ammunitions, and police arrested the driver and two of his 'mates'.Lasisi is in Police custody in Kumasi while further investigations continue.
