The Black Bombers are hoping to make the most of the opportunity at the ongoing African qualifiers for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
Six Ghanaian boxers out of the 12 taken to Dakar, Senegal, have been eliminated at the ongoing boxing qualifiers, with six more still in contention for qualification to the games next year.
Out of those eliminated include Seth Gyimah, also known as Freezy McBones, who lost to his Senegalese opponent Seydou Konate in the middleweight category on Saturday, September 9, through a unanimous decision.
But the UK-based boxer insists he should have won the fight.
"There is a lot of difference between professional boxing and amateur boxing. In amateur boxing, it's more quick, more fast on your toes [and] your feet. They want to see more punches," Freezy said after the fight.
"If you look at the way I was boxing, I was on my toes, moving my head straight up. I was doing on all of them but like I said, it's boxing. There are two things involved; either win or lose. We are still learning."
The defeat to Konate in the round of 16 preliminary rounds was Freezy's first loss in his career.
