Members of parliament say never again should they be called upon to rise for the Chief Justice in any national event.
MP for Kwabre East in the Ashanti region Kofi Frimpong who raised the issue on the floor said "Mr. Speaker it is not our tradition, let's be mindful of that. It is only the president that we stand for and not the Chief Justice"
The house rose to the procession of the Chief Justice and members of the judiciary during the presentation of the State of the Nation address by President Mahama last month.
He argued parliament as an arm of government cannot be seen as a division of the judiciary.
This was endorsed by the house.
