The Chief Executive Officer of National Entrepreneurship and Innovations Plan (NEIP) has extolled the contributions of physically challenged women to the economy.  John Kumah said government recognises the special abilities of women with physical challenges to come up with business ideas and entrepreneurial initiatives and would continuously support them.  “Women are creative with business ideas and initiatives and our physically challenged women are no different. Some of them have come up with initiatives that will not only lead to enhancing their livelihoods but also lead to employment and contribute to the growth of the economy. “Under the Presidential Empowerment for Women Entrepreneurs with Disability programme we are running a unique scheme that ensures that beneficiaries of this funding only pay back 50% of the money we have given them,” he said. His comment comes after women entrepreneurs with physical challenges numbering 1000 have benefited from the NEIP. Speaking to the press on the sidelines of a brief presentation ceremony at the Jubilee House on Tuesday which saw President Akufo-Addo ¢2 million to 1,000 women entrepreneurs living with a disability. This was under the Presidential Empowerment for Women Entrepreneurs with Disability programme under which the funds were disbursed is a scheme specially designed to support physically challenged women who have entrepreneurial initiatives and businesses.  It is an initiative under the NEIP which according to President Akufo-Addo is not only a fulfilment of an NPP Manifesto pledge to support women entrepreneurs and help improve the livelihoods of the disabled, but also to help realise goals no. 5, 8, and 10 of the 2030 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. According to Mr Kumah, the gesture goes beyond the talk showing how government is keenly interested in these women and is targeting special schemes at them to help them grow their businesses.  He added that it will benefit society at large as the 1000 beneficiaries are “estimated to employ a minimum of two persons which is a significant number as part of measures by this government to reduce unemployment.”
