Plan Ghana, an international child-Plcentred community development organisation, has donated Information Communication Technology (ICT) equipment and stationery worth GH¢10,000 to Hijaz Islamic Basic School at Korle Gonno in Accra.

According to Plan Ghana, it formed part of its support to Child Media Technology and ICT Programme being championed by the management of Studio 502, an indigenous media and documentary production company, to offer opportunity to pupils in deprived urban areas to acquire ICT and other media skills.
Madam Joyce Odame, Rights of the Child Advisor of Plan Ghana, presenting the items on behalf of Mr. Samuel Paulos, Country Director of Plan Ghana, in Accra on Wednesday, said it was to complement government's efforts in ensuring that pupils had access to ICT under the new education reforms.
She said Plan Ghana, since 2007, had been providing support to Studio 502 to execute the programme in deprived areas including Chorkor, and after evaluation it was recommended that it should be brought closer to enable more children benefit and ensure its sustainability.
Madam Odame appealed to school authorities to ensure that the pupils benefited from the facility, while stakeholders collaborated for the programme to succeed.
Mr. Alhassan Dabone, Headteacher of Hijaz Islamic Basic School, expressed gratitude to the management of Plan Ghana for the gift.
He said the equipment would enhance practical work of the pupils and pledged to ensure that they were well utilised and maintained to prolong their lifespan.
Mr. Cobina Afful, Administrator of Studio 502 Media, pledged their commitment to continue to train more pupils to acquire ICT skills.
