JoyNews’ Newsfile this morning discussed measures needed to ensure Appiatse is rebuilt, following the explosion that claimed 13 lives and destroyed about 500 homes.
The programme also debated the role government play in avoiding such a recurrence.
President Akufo-Addo has directed the Lands Ministry to pay $5 million out of the $6 million to be paid by Maxam Ghana Limited into the Appiatse Support Fund.
The donation is to support the victims of the incident and reconstruct the community.
Newsfile host, Samson Lardy Anyenini and his panellists also discussed the brouhaha surrounding the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) and McDan, following the suspension of the newly-launched McDan Aviation from using Terminal 1 of the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) until further notice.
The last on Newfile’s list is the controversial E-levy Bill which has divided the Members of Parliament.
One side of the House believes the levy would solve the problems in the country by creating developmental projects in the country and solving the rising unemployment.
The other side has a contrary view.
According to them, introducing the levy would only increase the suffering of ordinary citizens.
