The post-election survey undertaken by Ghana Center for Democratic Development (CDD-Ghana) has revealed that 58 per cent of Ghanaians attributed the reduction in President Akufo-Addo's vote margin to the policy decisions and actions his MPs and appointees took as well as the President's performance.
The survey disclosed that less than half of Ghanaians are optimistic that, in the next four years, the Akufo-Addo-led government will perform "much better or better" in addressing educational needs, providing reliable supply of electricity, maintaining roads and bridges.
Thirty-five per cent of Ghanaians are however optimistic about government's ability to reduce crime.
Today on Newsfile, host Samson Lardy Anyenini and his panelists took a critical look into CDD's findings and the role government has to play.
Again, the appointment of Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) in the president's second administration has been an issue many are concerned about.
The minority has chastised the government for the delay but President Akufo-Addo has stated that reports presented to him by committees set up for the selection process are currently being scrutinised by his team, and that very soon the list would be ready.
Also, NDC MPs are concerned about the President's extravagant foreign trips. North Tongu MP, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has alleged that the President hired another luxurious aircraft on his recent foreign trips to the UK and Germany.
The trips on the hired jet allegedly cost the state £14,000 per hour and a cumulative ¢3.46 million.
Following these allegations, former Chief of Staff under the Kufuor administration, Kwadwo Mpiani, has called for a national policy mandating the President to pay for the cost of private travels using the Presidential jet.
All these matters of concern to the public were discussed on the show.
