The Eastern South Regional Police Command has arrested a suspect in connection with the unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition at Nsawam-Adoagyiri in the Eastern Region.
The suspect, identified as Abdul Rauf Salami, a resident of Adoagyiri Zongo, was picked up on the night of Thursday, May 23, 2025, at around 9:30pm.
A statement signed by the head of the Public Affairs Unit, ASP Foster Owusu, on Saturday, May 24, said Salami's arrest followed an intensified police operation targeting all entry and exit points in Adoagyiri in response to recent violent disturbances in the area.
Police retrieved two pump-action guns, 64 rounds of AA ammunition, a cutlass, a knife, and an ammunition vest from the suspect.
According to the Eastern South Police, Salami is currently in custody and assisting with ongoing investigations.

Authorities stated that he is expected to be arraigned in court to face charges.
“We would like to assure the public that we will leave no stone unturned in ensuring the safety and security of the Adoagyiri Township,” the statement added.
“We therefore urge the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the police.”
The police added that further updates will be shared as investigations continue.
