Police in the Upper East Region have begun interrogating more students at the Sirigu Senior High School in connection with some rioting on campus early this week.

Seven motorbikes belonging to teachers at the school were burnt in the riot which erupted when a Muslim student was punished for refusing to pray in English.

Kasena Nankana Municipal Police Commander, Asinkoyaaba Abdul-Latif, says investigations will continue to find those behind the disturbances.

"We are contacting many of the tutors who were there to provide us with information," he stated.

He said a misunderstanding had ensued between a student and a tutor during supper and the police suspect that may have triggered the riot.

Investigations are ongoing, very soon we will come to a reasonable end," he assured.
