FC Porto striker Majeed Waris has joined French Ligue 1 club Nantes on a season-long loan deal with the option for purchase at the end, Joy Sports can confirm.
The former Lorient and Valenciennes forward has signed a 1-year loan deal for Miguel Cardoso’s side after struggling for playing time for the majority of this year in Portugal, recently being left out of Porto’s squad for the upcoming season by manager Sergio Conceicao.
The 26-year-old Ghana international made only 5 first-team appearances last season but flourished over the two and a half seasons prior to this at Lorient, scoring 21 goals in the 62 appearances at the Stade du Moustoir.
Waris, who has also played for Swedish side BK Hacken, Spartak Moscow and Trabzonspor, will be hoping his loan move to Nantes will help to re-discover the playing time and form he showed in his previous spell in France.
