National Democratic Congress (NDC) Chairman aspirant, Kofi Portuphy, has been massively endorsed by party delegates in the Northern Region.
As part of Mr. Portuphy's four-day tour of the region, he took part in a clean-up exercise organised by a group calling itself 'Friends of Portuphy'.
The clean-up exercise was done at the Tamale Teaching Hospital, Monday.
Mahdin Gibril, a close confidante of Mr.Portuphy, said just like the clean up exercise in the Northern Region, many NDC sympathisers and delegates have been spearheading similar programmes in other regions to shore up support for him.
During a recent campaign tour of the Western, Eastern, Central, Volta and parts of the Greater Accra regions, party faithful and delegates openly declared their support for him.
Gibril explained that the clean-up exercise was one of many events that will mark Mr Portuphy's four-day campaign in the Northern Region.
Mr.Portuphy -- who has been tipped by many to unseat the party’s incumbent chairman, Kwaben Adjei -- visited about 12 constituencies including Yendi, Zabzugu, Bimbilla among others.
In all these places, constituency executives, led by their chairmen and youth organisers, openly endorsed the candidature of Mr Portuphy who is also Cordinator of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO).
The NDC Chairman aspirant expressed his gratitude to the delegates for their endorsement.
He said when given the nod to become the party’s chair, he would ensure that party members and grassroots supporters who have been neglected over the years are made to take active part in the day-to-day running of the NDC.
He called on the current constituency executives of the NDC to tap the rich experience of past executives since that will strengthen the base of the party.
Kofi Portuphy is in the race with three other party bigwigs including incumbent Chairman Dr.Kwabena Adjei, Dan Abodakpi and a vice chairman of the NDC, Alhaji Hudu Yahaya.
