The impact of the current load shedding regime across the country is expected to minismise following the addition of 100 megawatts of power to the national grid.
This means few communities will be affected by the load shedding exercise, Head of Communications at the Volta River Authority, Sam Fletcher told Joy News, Thursday.
The country witnessed a pronounced load shedding exercise few weeks ago following repair works on some of the thermal plants at Aboadze in the Western Region.
As a result, Fletcher said over 200-300 megawatts of power had to be shed everyday to keep the system running.
This affected lots of businesses due to the increase in cost of production.
On Thursday the Takoradi International Company (TICO) confirmed it had completed works on one of the thermal plants in Aboadze which added a 100 megawatts of power to the grid.
Fletcher said the addition will bring significant improvement in the power supply, even though the load shedding exercise will not completely end, at least for now.
