A Kumasi-based Referee Sarfo Adade is calling for improved security at the various stadia in the country during matches in the Glo premier league games.
Referee Adade who was assistant referee in the Glo Premier League third week fixture between Wa All Stars and Medeama SC in Wa was attacked after the game by masseur of Wa All Stars, Yunus Papa.
Premier league referees over the years have come under serious assaults at match venues and Referee Adade in an interview with Luv fm’s Delali Atiase wants the Ghana Football Association to engage military personnel to compliment efforts of Police personnel who are often overwhelmed by such incidents.
“The match officials do not have maximum security because of some security personnel affiliations to the clubs. Unless the GFA decides to use the military personnel, security at the match venues will remain the same and the security of match referees will always not be guaranteed,” said Referee Sarfo Adade
