Reigning Champions, Presbyterian Boys' SHS, Legon (PRESEC-Legon) will face stiff opposition in its quest to retain the trophy as conquerors of the Regional Championships of the 2021 National Science & Maths Quiz.
The Regional Championship which is in its third year will have 14 schools battle it out for the bragging right as creme de la creme in science and mathematics education.
The competing institutions made up of four seeded schools from NSMQ2020 and nine regional qualifiers will ballot and compete in contests that promise to be thrilling and nerve wracking.
PRESEC Legon who are also the reigning national victors will be drawn in separate contests alongside three other seeded schools; Achimota School, Accra Academy and St. Margaret Mary SHS.
The nine contenders from the regional qualifiers include 2013 national winners, St. Thomas Aquinas, 2018 NSMQ finalist, West Africa SHS, Chemu SHS, Ashaiman SHS, Odorgonno SHS and Tema Methodist SHS.
The others are OLAM SHS, Holy Trinity Cathedral SHS and Ghanata SHS.
Achimota School won the maiden edition of the Greater Accra Regional Championship in 2019 but failed to defend the trophy losing it to archrival, PRESEC Legon who later went on to clinch the national championship in 2020.
PRESEC-Legon is the second school to win the regional and national championships in the same year after Central Region based St. Augustine's College won the duo in 2019.
The National Science and Maths Quiz produced by Primetime Limited in partnership with the Ghana Education Service promises to deliver yet another exciting contest worth remembering.
