A group calling its self "Love Your Neighbour” on Tuesday demonstrated through some principal streets of Accra in protest against the work to rule stance of Health workers.
The group numbering about 300 carried placards some of which read, “have mercy on the poor”, don't do politics in the health sector”, “Our health our life” and “Save the future of Ghana”.
They presented a petition to a meeting of the health workers at the Nurses Hostel and the National Labour Commission.
Addressing newsmen later, the spokesman for the demonstrators, Eric Osei Annor condemned the frequent threat of strikes and resort to strike by health workers.
He urged the National Labour Commission to clearly point out to the health workers the illegality of their work to rule action.
The group appealed to health workers, government, the Health Ministry and the Labour Commission to rise to the occasion by saving lives rather than destroying especially innocent children who otherwise would have grown to become leaders.
It urged the health workers to exhibit patriotism and put national interest above parochialism.
