Mr. George Amoako Quaicoe, Western Regional Lands Commission Chairman, has denied any wrong doing by Mr. Seraphime Hans-Jorie, the acting Regional Lands Officer. He said a seven-member committee constituted to investigate allegations of connivance between the lands officer and some individuals in respect of Apremdo lands were all false and without merit. They are Ebusuapayin Nana Kofi Akye, Ebusuapayin Dominic Yalley, Ebusuapayin Akyen Kofi, Ebusuapayin Kojo Borokon, Ebusuapayin Penya, Ebusuapayin Kwasi Awulley and Ebusuapayin Francis K. Quaicoe Mr. Amoako said the Apremdo stool in 1970 under the late Nana Nyankeh Brem II, made a declaration on all lands in Apremdo and therefore all those lands being claimed by the families were without merit. "The families have persistently failed to submit evidence of title in the form of a court judgement, undisputed statutory declaration or a document on the land in question duly evidenced by the overlord stool and each case should have the attached proprietary plans" he added. Mr. Amoako said the acting lands officer cannot be held personally responsible for implementing the decisions and policies of the Western Regional Lands commission. He said the Lands Commission had not been informed of any appointment of a regent by the Ahanta Traditional Council, adding that, "When Nana Amua Gyebu XV, Divisional Chief of Apowa was suspended by the Ahantahene early this year, the Lands Commission was informed by the traditional council". Mr. Amoako therefore urged the public that the Commission would not deviate from its policies of ensuring that the right things were done in the land sector. He said the Commission would work assiduously to protect the interests of investors, individuals and companies from falling prey to fraudulent land transactions by dishonest landowners. Mr. Hans-Jorie said the group led by one John N. Panyin, their spokesman had sold several lands and issued forged documents, which have all been rejected by the Western Regional Lands Commission. He said for sometime, the Commission detected anomalies in the signatories to the documents presented to the Commission for processing and therefore decided to stop until proper ownership titles with approved signatories were provided. Awulae Atibrukusu, a member of the Commission advised the Apremdo community and the petitioners to follow laid down procedures and register their lands according to laid down procedures if they had that legal right. He said resorting to insults; threats and writing of letters would not solve the problems. It would be re-called that on October 9 this year, some people claiming to be landowners at Apremdo accused the lands officer of bias and called for his removal from office. Source: GNA
