The Bono East Regional Office of the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) has sensitised staff, management, and the advisory board of the Tain District Hospital at Nsawkaw on the use of its Electricity Tariff Reckoner and the PURC Electricity Consumption Estimator (PECE).
The PURC Tariff Reckoner is a digital application developed by the Commission to help consumers calculate their electricity consumption in monetary terms. The PECE tool, on the other hand, enables users to estimate their monthly electricity usage both in kilowatt-hours (kWh) and Ghana cedis (GHS) based on PURC’s gazetted tariffs.

The engagement, held as part of the hospital’s quarterly staff durbar, also educated participants on the establishment and key functions of the PURC, consumer rights and responsibilities, utility service provider obligations, the capital contribution policy, new service connection procedures, complaints resolution process, and the Tariff Review Decision for the fourth quarter of 2025. Energy and water conservation tips were also shared.

Dr Philip Taah-Amoako, Medical Superintendent of the hospital, expressed appreciation to the PURC team for the insightful session.
He encouraged staff and management to take the education seriously, noting that the engagement would go a long way to help the facility improve its efficiency in electricity and water usage.
