Christina Jatoe-Kaleo, Volta Regional General Manager of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) and her management team have paid a courtesy call on the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) in the Volta Region over concerns of electricity consumers.
The meeting also forms part of efforts to strengthen collaboration between the two institutions.
Ms Jatoe-Kaleo said the meeting focused on improving service delivery and addressing key concerns affecting electricity consumers in the region.
Philip Agbezudor, Volta/Oti Regional Manager at PURC, highlighted persistent power fluctuations across several areas, particularly during peak periods, and their adverse impact on households and businesses.
He said other concerns included billing inconsistencies, especially discrepancies between figures on the ECG mobile app, SMS notifications, and printed bills.
Ms Jatoe-Kaleo explained that consumers could access their accurate bills through a specific feature on the platform, which many users are unaware of.
Both ECG and PURC agreed on the need for intensified public education as the Commission continued to protect the interests of consumers and utilities.
