Former President Jerry John Rawlings has paid tribute to the late Col Peter Agbeko, first Ghanaian Director of Legal Services of the Ghana Armed Forces, describing him as an affable character who treated everyone with respect irrespective of their rank.
“Colonel Agbeko was a man of true integrity who treated people with respect. He had no pretentions about him. He was not materialistic,” the former President said when a delegation called on him on Monday to formally inform him of the passing of the former military officer.
President Rawlings expressed his condolences to the wife and family of the departed colonel, a “man held in very high regard by most of us. Even as the culture of rigidity remained intact in the military institution, the values of mutual respect and affection run alongside it. Colonel Agbeko was a personality who reflected all these three attributes in an outstanding manner.”
The delegation comprised Colonel Michael Gbagonah, Commander Assasie Gyimah and Peter Agbeko, son of the late Colonel Agbeko.
