The Ghana Tourist Board is asking the Cocoa Processing Company to reduce the price of its Golden Tree chocolates to encourage patronage.
According to the board, the current price puts the product beyond the reach of many who may otherwise want to savour it.
GTB is hoping a price reduction to coincide with national chocolate day which falls on Valentines’ Day will greatly boost patronage.
But the CPC’s Public Relations Manager Ekow Rhule, says the current price has factored in quite some amount of discount already.
He said the company was committed to making the product available to all Ghanaians but wanted to maintain its quality as well.
Reducing its price, according to Mr Rhule, could compel the manufacturer to reduce the quality of the chocolates which has gained international repute.
