Highlife musician, Rex Omar has said he is disappointed in President Akufo-Addo's State of the Nation Address (SONA) delivered last Thursday.
The artiste said he was not impressed with the president’s statement on the Creative Arts industry.
He told JoyNews, in an interview, what was said about the industry was not encouraging stating that most promises of the governing party New Patriotic Party (NPP) have not been fulfilled.
“There’s nothing new from what the president said [this year] and what he said in 2018,” he told JoyNews Noella Kharyne Yalley.
The veteran added that Akufo-Addo boasting about cutting sod for a creative arts school is not an achievement if he does not follow through to get the institution up and running.
“Everyone can cut sod. When he cut the sod how many months has it been and what has happened? These are all political talks,” he said.
The most important thing, according to him, was that the President has even disregarded his promise to have ultra-modern theatres in every region.
Rex Omar complained that there are many regions including the Ashanti where movie makers and musicians cannot have a show mainly because there are no venues available.
He added that with about nine months to the general elections, the Creative Arts Bil has still not been passed.
To Rex Omar, the only achievement for the industry under Akufo-Addo was the ‘Year of Return’ which illuminated the industry.
“I’m disappointed honestly,” he added.
