The Head of Operations at the Free SHS Secretariat, Richard Appiah Kubi, has declared his intention to contest the NPP parliamantary primary in the Afigya Kwabre South Constituency of the Ashanti region.
He has subsequently resigned from his position as the party's 2nd Vice Chairman of the constituency.
Mr. Appiah Kubi has held various other political positions in the constituency.
He was the 2020 NPP Ashanti Regional campaign team member, serving on the polling agents recruitments and training committee.
He also served as the Youth Organizer and Constituency Elections and Research Officer for Afigya Kwabre South.
He was at a point in time Polling Station Secretary and TESCON Organizer at KNUST.
For 12 years, Richard Appiah Kubi served as the Assembly Member for the Nkukua Buoho electoral area in Afigya Kwabre South Assembly.
The Afigya Kwabre South constituency is located entirely within the boundaries of the Afigya-Kwabre South District.
The district itself was created on 1 November 2007, carved out of Kwabre East and Sekyere South Districts.
The NPP's William Owuraku Aidoo has been the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area since the creation of the Constituency in 2012.
He won the 2020 Parliament election with 78.9% of total votes cast.
Last month, Kumawood actor, Kwadwo Nkansah 'Lil Win', announced his intention to run for the parliamentary seat in the Afigya Kwabre South constituency.
He, however, wants to run as an independent candidate.
