In a notable effort to support the next generation of poultry farmers, Rosons Farms Ltd. under the HAPPY Poultry training project, has equipped participants with startup packages. This package includes day-old chicks, medication, vaccines and feed to help the participants establish their poultry businesses.

The HAPPY Poultry project is part of the broader Harnessing Agricultural Productivity and Prosperity for Youth (HAPPY) initiative, a 4-year partnership between the Mastercard Foundation and Agri-Impact Limited.

This initiative aims to create employment opportunities for over 326,000 young people in Ghana by enhancing agricultural productivity in four value chains namely Rice, Soya, Tomato and Poultry.

The HAPPY Poultry training, an 8-week intensive programme, recently celebrated the completion of its second cohort. The programme successfully trained 48 young entrepreneurs in broiler production, marketing and essential business skills. The HAPPY Poultry programme features a well-structured programme with facilitators offering practical training ensuring that participants acquire knowledge as they partake in the production.

Upon graduating from the programme, each participant received a starter package, a crucial investment to help them establish their poultry enterprises. With these starter packages, Rosons is not only supporting individual farmers but also contributing to the growth of the poultry sector. This capacity-building initiative aligns with the Foundation’s mission to create fulfilling and dignified jobs for the youth.

The Managing Director of Rosons Farms Limited, Mrs Francisca Quaye explained that the rationale behind the presentation was to equip these participants with the right tools to overcome the initial challenges of setting up a business in the poultry value chain.

“We understand the challenges of starting a business after a capacity building programme and these startup kits are presented to the participants to alleviate those challenges thus providing our trainees with a strong foundation to succeed. We are dedicated to seeing the youth thrive and making significant contributions to the poultry industry, ensuring fresh chicken reaches the doorstep of every Ghanaian said Mrs. Francisca Quaye, MD of Rosons.
