Electronics giant Samsung Ghana is putting smiles on the faces of children this Easter.
Samsung will be partnering with international medical charity organization Operation Smile to provide funding to support Ghanaian children to undergo cleft surgeries.
The initiative “Smile with Samsung”, will see Samsung donating $1 for every authorized Samsung smartphone bought and registered on e-warranty towards the surgeries during this Easter period through to the 1st of May.
Statistics show that every 3 minutes a child is born with cleft worldwide and in Ghana 1 out of every 750 births. Out of every 10 children living with cleft 1 dies before their first birthday.
Commenting on the initiative, Mr. Jingak Chung, Managing Director of Samsung Electronics, said “Our aim is to work towards a good cause while ensuring our customers feel a part of it and proud to own a Samsung. One of the company's key values is co-prosperity being that Samsung is a socially responsible corporate citizen.”
“In light of this, during this Easter period through to 1st May Samsung will be partnering with Operation Smile Ghana to support them carry around a number of surgeries for children living with a cleft,” Tracy Kyei, Marketing Manager at Samsung stated in a statement.
According to Ms. Kyei, customers who purchase a Samsung device will need to register on e-warranty to ensure Samsung recognizes the sale and they will receive a confirmation message via SMS that $1 has been donated to the ‘Smile with Samsung’ project.

The surgeries will take place from 20th April to 1st May at Ho.
